Next Wednesday evening (August 12th), as well as running the Bombing competition, we will also run the Gliding competition, which was rained off earlier this year.

    IMPORTANT, ALL KEYHOLDERS
I have had a message from Mary Harmon, For those of you who don't know she is the landowner When they came in to work last Monday morning the gates had not been locked properly and in fact were not secured at all. I issued a note with all keys that give very specific and detailed instructions on how the gates must be locked. If we do not comply wih these instructions from the landowners we risk problems. It's not difficult to do this correctly. If you are not sure now it should be done contact me and I will explain it.
Please have respect for the land owners wishes on this and other issue we have had brought to our attention recently.
It seems as if because we have been in for a while now people are getting lazy with the simple guidelines for the use of the field.
Please discuss this while at the field to ensure the message gets around.
    Thanks,
    Graeme

    Hi Mark

We are still full for this year but Maidenhead may have vacancies. Have a look at the BMFA site for other clubs in the area. The website is http://www.bmfa.org/clubs/clist.php

The Trex450 & Spektrum combination is fine to use in the UK. You might find the 450 a bit of a handful in windy conditions which tends to be most days in the UK.

    Some local stores are:

    West London Models
    http://www.westlondonmodels.com/

    Slough Radio Control Models
    http://www.sloughrc.com/

    Addlestone Model Centre
    http://www.addlestone-models.co.uk/

    Reading Hobby Stores
    http://www.hobbystores.co.uk/

There are no stores in Bracknell unfortunately.

Thanks for your interest in our club, and I wish you luck with finding a suitable flying site. BTW, our membership waiting list opens in November.

    Hi,

I came across your website and was interested in joining your club, but noticed your full for this season (unless there’s any openings). My question is; I recently moved back to the UK from Canada and have been a member of a model flying club in Toronto. I have an electric T-REX 450 SE with a Spectrum DX7 radio, I was planning on bringing it back to the UK with me when I fly home at the end of the month and assume it would be fine at the clubs in the UK?

As your full, do you know of any other clubs in the Maidenhead area I could join to learn the basics of how to fly my T-Rex, I’ve had it geared down and the settings set at my previous club so I can’t do 3D with it (yet) but I’m keen to get back to flying it.

Also, any stores you can recommend for spare parts would be appreciated. I’ve had mixed comments from other club members about flying on AirCanada with lipo batteries in my luggage, would they be ok?

Any assistance you can provide is appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Mark

I noticed at the field yesterday someone had been running an engine in the pits and left an oily mess on the grass.
We have been asked to use the trays to prevent fuel spills and exhaust burns.
There is no excuse for this mess in the pits. We are just going to get grief from Ken if it continues. What makes this worse is it was right in front of Kens sign.
If you see the happening please remind the person of this request from Ken.
    Thanks

Due to inclement weather, the Spot Landing and Gliding competitions did not take place this morning (17/5/09). I have re-scheduled the Spot Landing comp. for this coming Wednesday evening (20/5/09), to start at 6:00 pm. The gliding date will be announced later in the year.

    A word of warning.
We had a problem this week when one member lost his key. It was used to open the gate and not needed to lock up with. When it was found to be missing, it could have been lost anywhere, or maybe left in the padlock. We had several days of worry as we are liable for the full cost of replacement keys and padlocks. All would have to be changed in the event of loss.
Fortunately the key was found by Ken in the grass after the mower ran over it.

Please be very careful in looking after your gate key. It was suggested to keep it on you car keys. You are not going anywhere without them.

This incident could have cost the club many hundreds of pounds.

As a semi lapsed member I don't often visit the website (or the flying field, sadly). Congratulations on the new format, it's good on the eye and very easy to use. Keep it up.
